I’m
Gil Lederman. Welcome to our website for Radiosurgery New
York.
Radiosurgery New York is dedicated to sophisticated radiation
treatments. Our physicians have had extensive experience using
non-invasive fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery - both
in the brain and body, as well as prostate.
We were the first, as physicians, to bring fractionated body
radiosurgery to the Western Hemisphere and believe we have
the largest experience. Patients find satisfaction and comfort
knowing that our experience is important which can help guide
them when making treatment decisions. Obviously, each treatment
decision will be made ultimately by the patient with family
support.
The purpose of this website is to provide a variety of information
and our treatment philosophy to you. In general, our guiding
principle is to try to gain local control of tumors as well
as whenever possible and as best as possible, minimize unnecessary
radiation to healthy tissues. Often for cancer this means
dose escalation sometimes in a few larger-than-normal treatments.
Our physicians have extensive experience using seed implantation
for prostate cancer and we have perhaps the best data nationally
and internationally showing five and ten-year cancer-free
survival. Body radiosurgery allows us a variety of treatment
options. We can boost the dose precisely to deliver radiation
in greater amounts to improve local control. We can also,
when appropriate, re-treat areas that even have had prior
radiation, chemotherapy or surgery. The majority of cancers
in the area we treat are successfully controlled. Control
means cessation of growth, shrinkage or disappearance of the
cancer.
For brain tumors, we treat both benign and malignant tumors.
We have the largest experience in the world treating acoustic
neuromas using fractionated radiosurgery. We also have extensive
experience treating meningiomas, metastases to the brain as
well as primary brain tumors such as glioblastomas and astrocytomas.
We also have a large experience with a variety of tumors too
extensive to list here.
There is a great deal of information on this site. More information
is available by calling us at 212-CHOICES or sending your
questions to me directly at Gil.Lederman@RSNY.org.
Our location in central Manhattan makes treatment more accessible.
For those coming from out-of-state and overseas, New York
should prove as interesting and stimulating as treatment is
innovative.
